The legal bit. We've tried to write it in plain English. Pop a kettle on if it helps.
Welcome. These terms ("the Terms") form the agreement between you and Time For A Show Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (number 13972539) with its registered office at Mistletoe Cottage Fockerby, Garthorpe, Scunthorpe, England, DN17 4SA. Throughout, "we" means the company; "you" means anyone using the site — patrons buying tickets, and organisers selling them. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't, please don't.
"Patron" — someone buying tickets. "Organiser" — a theatre, society, school, charity or other group selling tickets through us. "Event" — a single show, season, or one-off performance. "Booking fee" — the small per-ticket charge added at checkout to cover card processing and the cost of running the platform. "Site" — the website at timeforashow.com and any of its subdomains.
You'll need an account to buy or sell tickets. We ask for your name, email and a password; nothing more than necessary. Keep your password to yourself — anything done from your account counts as done by you. You must be 16 or over to register; if you're younger, get a parent or guardian to book on your behalf. We accept accounts from organisations as well as individuals; please register in the name of the entity that will receive the ticket money.
When you click Pay, you're entering into a contract with the organiser of the show, not with us. We're the booking agent; the show, its content, the venue, the safety of the seats, and any food or drink at the event are entirely the organiser's responsibility. We collect the money on their behalf and pass it on.
Your tickets arrive by email straight after payment. If they haven't, check the junk folder and then write to us — we'll resend them. Tickets are personal to you; you can give them to a friend, but you can't resell them for profit.
You can use the site to sell tickets for any genuine theatrical or live event you have the right to put on. By creating an event you're confirming that you (or the company you represent) have the licences, performance rights, venue bookings, and insurance required, and you'll provide a copy on request.
You set the ticket prices, you set the seating plan, you keep the contact details of patrons who book your show (within GDPR — see the Privacy Policy). We don't market your shows to your audience without asking.
For amateur and community organisers, the platform is free. Patrons pay a booking fee at checkout (4% + 20p per order, or 3% + 20p for registered charities) which covers card processing and the cost of running the site. You can read our full pricing here.
Money is held in a segregated client account at our bank, in your organisation's name, until the show closes. Payouts happen automatically by BACS seven days after the final performance — the short delay covers any patron refunds and gives us time to confirm there were no problems with the event before the money moves.
If an organiser cancels a show or moves it to a date a patron cannot attend, the patron gets a full refund of the ticket price. The booking fee is non-refundable as it covers card processing costs that are incurred at the time of purchase; however, organisers may request that booking fees are also refunded to patrons — this can be arranged at the organiser's cost. We process ticket price refunds automatically — you don't have to ask.
Otherwise, refunds are at the organiser's discretion. Many will offer them up to 48 hours before curtain; we encourage every organiser to write a clear refund policy on the show page, and if there isn't one you can write to us and we'll mediate.
Anything you upload — show titles, descriptions, photography, programme notes, seating plans — remains yours. By posting it on the site you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it, to send it to patrons who book your show, and to use small thumbnails of it in our roundups (with credit). We won't sell it on or use it as stock imagery.
Don't list events you don't have the right to put on. Don't impersonate anyone. Don't try to extract personal data about other users. Don't attempt to break, scrape or load-test the site without permission. Don't use the site to promote anything illegal, dangerous, or otherwise dispiriting. Don't be unpleasant to our support team — they're real humans.
We do our best to keep the site running, the seats accurate and the receipts correct, but we're a small company and we can't guarantee any of it without exception. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, we do so to the value of the booking fees you've paid us in the 12 months before whatever's gone wrong. We don't limit liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
If we have a reasonable belief you've broken these Terms, we may pause or close your account. We'll tell you why and give you a chance to make it right where we sensibly can. You can close your own account from account settings at any time; any tickets already issued will still be honoured.
We'll update these from time to time. If a change is material — i.e. it could meaningfully affect you — we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. The most recent version always lives at this URL with a date stamp at the top.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and any disputes will be heard in the courts of England & Wales. If you're a consumer based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you'll have the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law of your country.
Write to us at help@timeforashow.com, or by post at Mistletoe Cottage Fockerby, Garthorpe, Scunthorpe, England, DN17 4SA. We aim to respond within two working days; in show season, often quicker. There's a real person on the other end.
